What is a pass or fail on a barcode verifier grade

Barcode grades run from A (4.0) to F (0.0). The pass line is the grade written on the job ticket, not the instrument’s default A. If the ticket is silent, do not assume A is required, and do not ship below C on your own. Retail’s common floor is C, that is 1.5, but this order’s wording rules.

Letters and numbers

The verifier gives a symbol grade after one measurement. A is 4.0, B is 3.0, C is the band from 2.0 down to 1.5 still often called C. If the customer wrote “not below C” or “not below 1.5,” use what they wrote. They wrote A and you measured B: fail, even if a handheld scanner still beeps.

If the instrument is only a camera looking for broken bars, that “pass” is not an ISO grade. Only a verifier method fills A through F.

When you can ship

Order Measured Action
Not below C or 1.5 C or better Ship, keep the report
Not below A B or worse Do not ship
No grade written Whatever Ask first, do not decide yourself

When you record, write

  1. The grade the order required and the grade measured.
  2. That it was a verifier, not a camera pass.
  3. If no requirement was written, leave the field empty. Do not fill “default C.”
