What a hue-difference report cannot leave out
The report must include ΔH and say which colour. If you only write ΔE, do not add that the hue also passed. For hue difference, follow the job ticket. Do not rely on what the shift remembers.

If the report is missing it, do not conclude
Cyan, magenta, and yellow hue commonly stay within ΔH 3. It governs whether the hue has shifted, not the total colour difference. A passing total difference can still have a hue that is over. Use the contract version. Without the conditions or the object, nobody else can check this conclusion.
Report check
| Item | Do this | Do not |
|---|---|---|
| Hue difference | The report must include ΔH and say which colour. If you only write ΔE, do not add that the hue also passed. For hue difference, follow the job ticket. Do not rely on what the shift remembers. | Write only a feeling |
| A common mistake | Do not let a passing total colour difference stand in for a passing hue. If the hue is off, a grey will not stay grey and skin will look dirty. | Carry the mistake forward |
| What to keep | The report must include ΔH and say which colour. If you only write ΔE, do not add that the hue also passed. | Leave only the word pass |
Check before you file it
- Confirm the report has ΔH.
- Look at cyan, magenta, and yellow separately.
- If there is no ΔH, do not write that the hue passed.
