Conditions that must hold when you measure G7 substrate color
Paper white is measured on the agreed M condition and backing. If a paper with optical brightener was read on M0, this 3.0 cannot be used as it stands.

Which conditions have to hold together
Don't hide a substrate miss with ink from a later process. If the paper is wrong, the gray balance later sits on the wrong paper. If the conditions differ, the two numbers cannot sit together for a comparison.
Conditions side by side
| Item | Do this | Don't |
|---|---|---|
| Substrate color difference | Paper white is measured on the agreed M condition and backing. If a paper with optical brightener was read on M0, this 3.0 cannot be used as it stands. | Write only a feeling |
| A common miss | Don't hide a substrate miss with ink from a later process. If the paper is wrong, the gray balance later sits on the wrong paper. | Leave the wrong number standing |
| What to leave | The report writes ΔE00, the target paper white, the M condition, and the backing. Written as ΔEab, it does not count as this line. | Leave only a line that says pass |
Check before you measure
- Measure the unprinted material first.
- Confirm you are using ΔE00.
- If the paper is out, don't cover it with ink.
