How to turn an inspection stop into a press adjustment

A stop must match one action. Keep an image before and after. A restart does not count as handling.

The alarm points at the knob to turn

After an inspection stop, write it as one specific press adjustment: which colour, which knob, and one image before and one after. Only restarting the camera so the alarm goes away leaves the defect in the metres that follow.

Why it is judged this way

If the alarm points at a doctor blade line, the action is to check the blade, not to drop the sensitivity until the alarm goes quiet. A record that only says “adjusted” is useless. Write “this colour’s blade pressure, from this to that”. Next time the same alarm comes, you can see that the blade should be changed.

What to compare

What you see What to call it What not to do
It says which colour and what changed This is an adjustment Only write “handled”
After the change the defect is still in the image It was not corrected Keep producing
Only the software was restarted The defect was not handled Treat it as adjusted

At job change or when a roll is opened

  1. First point out which colour the defect is on.
  2. Make an adjustment you can describe.
  3. On the image after the adjustment, see that the defect is gone or has been rejected.
