How to train a new operator on the camera in one shift

Teach only four things that get them on the job. Test with a real job change. They must be able to record a bypass.

In one shift, teach a new operator only four things: change the master for this job, wipe the lens, tell a real defect from a false alarm, and how to record a bypass. Do not teach the history of the system. When the teaching is done, let them change one job themselves. The person beside them only watches and does not touch.

Why it is judged this way

A new worker’s first night shift will meet a job change. If the day only watched a demo, at night they will switch the inspection off. Put the test in the second half of this shift, on the next real job ticket. If they cannot change the master, this shift does not count as taught.

What to compare

What you see What to call it What not to do
They can change the master alone They can go on the job Only listened to the explanation
They cannot wipe the lens Add that item before they go on Wait until it is dirty
They cannot record a bypass Do not give bypass permission yet Tell them they can switch it off

At job change or when a roll is opened

  1. Write the four things on half a page.
  2. Let them change one job themselves.
  3. See that they can leave a bypass record.
